The official course rating and slope by tee, to help you prepare your round and work out your Course Handicap.
Course data
The New Course slope rating at San Roque ranges from 121 to 137 depending on the tee and category, with a par of 72. These values appear in the official AMK1-1 table for San Roque Golf & Resort, valid since 10/02/2018 under the World Handicap System.
Here is the summary, with the original PDFs to download. The length of every hole is in the hole-by-hole guide. Further information on the system is available from the Spanish Golf Federation.
The New Course slope rating changes with the tee and the category, because the same layout asks something different from each starting point. That is why it is worth checking the table before you play, not just the par. Values for men and women are shown separately, as in the official document.
| Tee | Course rating | Slope |
|---|---|---|
| Black | 74.7 | 137 |
| White | 72.6 | 132 |
| Yellow | 69.5 | 132 |
| Blue | 66.7 | 121 |

For men, the highest slope is from the black tees (137, with a course rating of 74.7) and the lowest from the blue tees (121, with 66.7). White and yellow share a slope of 132, but their course ratings are more than three shots apart: 72.6 and 69.5.
| Tee | Course rating | Slope |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | 75.6 | 134 |
| Blue | 71.8 | 132 |
| Red | 69.0 | 127 |

For women, the slope runs from 127 on the red tees to 134 on the yellow tees, with 132 on the blue tees. The yellow-tee course rating of 75.6 sits above par, so the course plays harder from there than from the blue (71.8) or red (69.0) tees.
| Set of tees | Metres |
|---|---|
| 1st set (furthest back) | 6,079 |
| 2nd set | 5,565 |
| 3rd set | 5,010 |
Each nine is a par 36. See the green fees and choose your tee before you set off.
Hole-by-hole lengths for each set of tees are in the hole-by-hole guide, along with a description of each hole.
The course rating shows the expected score of a scratch player from a given tee. The slope rating measures the relative difficulty for everyone else, with 113 as the standard reference. Together with your index, they give your Course Handicap.

How the Course Handicap is worked out. The World Handicap System formula is: Handicap Index × (slope ÷ 113) + (course rating − par). Each competition may then apply its own allowance to reach your playing handicap.
An example using the New Course slope rating and an index of 18. From the black tees: 18 × (137 ÷ 113) + (74.7 − 72) = 24.5, which rounds to 25. Here is the same sum for every tee, using par 72 and rounding the result:
| Tee | Category | CR | Slope | Course Handicap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Black | Men | 74.7 | 137 | 25 |
| White | Men | 72.6 | 132 | 22 |
| Yellow | Men | 69.5 | 132 | 19 |
| Blue | Men | 66.7 | 121 | 14 |
| Yellow | Women | 75.6 | 134 | 25 |
| Blue | Women | 71.8 | 132 | 21 |
| Red | Women | 69.0 | 127 | 17 |
These figures are a guide, based on the published values. For a competition, the committee’s table and your current index take precedence.
Which tees to choose. Look at your Course Handicap and also at how far you usually hit the ball: the 7th measures 513 metres from the back and 432 from the third set, and par 3s such as the 8th call for a long shot from the back. Before you tee off, read each hole with the day’s wind in mind.
For men: black 137, white 132, yellow 132 and blue 121. For women: yellow 134, blue 132 and red 127.
For men: black 74.7, white 72.6, yellow 69.5 and blue 66.7. For women: yellow 75.6, blue 71.8 and red 69.0.
Par 72, with 36 on each nine, made up of four par 3s, ten par 4s and four par 5s.
It measures 6,079 metres from the back tees, with 5,565 and 5,010 from the next two sets.
