The New Course at San Roque is a short drive from the Rock: 18 holes, par 72 and views of the Mediterranean.
The Breeze of Golf
San Roque Golf & Resort is the home of the New Course, an 18-hole, par-72 course about 17 km from Gibraltar International Airport. For anyone looking for golf near Gibraltar, it is a championship round around 25 minutes away by car, depending on traffic and the wait at the border.
It was designed by Perry Dye with Severiano Ballesteros and hosted the Spanish Open in 2006. It measures 6,079 metres from the back tees and covers 45 hectares beside Sotogrande. See the course and plan your visit.
From the airport you cross the border into La Línea de la Concepción and head for the A-7 and the N-340. The course is at km 127 of the N-340 in San Roque, with free parking on site.
The distance is short, but border times vary. If you have a tee time, allow some margin and carry the travel documents that apply to your nationality.
If your flight lands elsewhere, Málaga Airport is about 115 km away (1 h 30 min) and Jerez Airport about 120 km (1 h 40 min). These times are approximate, so check them on the day you travel.
If you would rather not check in your bag, you can hire clubs at the course, along with a buggy or trolley. That makes golf near Gibraltar realistic on a short golf break, with a round on the day you land or before you fly home.
There are 18 and 9-hole green fees, as well as early bird and twilight options. See the green fees and book your tee time online.
The round gathers character at the 4th, a par 3 across a ravine, and at the 7th, a par 5 with sea views from the tee. The 12th is a risk-and-reward hole with a 70-metre bunker on the right, and the 18th finishes with water to the right.
Walk it first with the hole-by-hole guide and extend your trip with our guide to golf in Sotogrande.
Come just for the round or stay a few days in the area: the course is about 16 minutes from Puerto de Sotogrande. Find out where to stay near the course and leave time for La Criolla, our Argentinian grill, after your game.
If you live in Gibraltar or the surrounding area and play often, see the terms for members.
